From paddy to plate, a special escape for gardeners: Tour Thailand and Singapore, from 23rd September to 3rd October 2014.
Join sustainable gardener Jerry Coleby-Williams and experience the best tropical gardens, plant collections, markets, botanical landscapes, temples, palaces and other cultural destinations in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and Singapore.
Accompanied by Jerry, your Kew-trained gardening interpreter, enjoy fine food, visit organic fruit, vegetable, herb and spice growers, discover traditional Thai tea production, herbal medicine and crafts.
Being an organic gardener is more than just avoiding chemical sprays and making compost – it’s about the active care of the Earth and the care of nature.
Don’t just talk the talk, walk the walk – or in this case, scrub the scrub – with rescued elephants, one of many memorable tour highlights lined up.
Learn about elephant rescue and hear the individual stories told by their expert carers. Thailand has a dwindling wild elephant population, and they face many issues in Southeast Asia, including loss of habitat and mistreatment.
Help unload fruit and feed elephants from a viewing platform.
After lunch, stroll with Nature Park carers to the river. Learn how to safely and properly bathe an elephant.
I’ve always dreamed of helping scrub these wonderful giants – join me for an unforgettable experience.
Other highlights:
Visit natural attractions, enjoy rice paddies, lotus fields, improve your Thai cooking skills, and possibly your horticultural IQ too.
